In the game of football the goalkeeper may not roll up his shirt sleeves. True or false?

Sometime ago i was listening to BBC five live on the radio, they were discussing the rules of football when one of the commentators mentioned a rule concerning the goalkeeper. Apparently he or she is not allowed to roll up the sleeves of his or her shirt. Can anyone tell me if there is any truth in this?In the game of football the goalkeeper may not roll up his shirt sleeves. True or false?
probably like the shirts have to be tucked in rule then.In the game of football the goalkeeper may not roll up his shirt sleeves. True or false?
Goalkeepers are not allowed to role their sleeves up because they are hard to distinguish in the penalty box. What I mean is, that if a ball is played into a crowded box, and several players challenge for the ball, an unsighted keeper can be distinguished with his -then green sleeve-amongst the other long sleeved, or short sleeved players. He stood out. If a bare arm was to be seen, punching, or attempting to catch the ball in the area, then it was easy to give a penalty. Today, big sportswear companies have taken over the merchandising of clubs outfits. They can wear what they like, as long as they are making a healthy profit. But that has not changed the laws of the game one bit. It is still there!. Referees are obliged to eliminate the risks of giving to many penalties by overlooking this little known law.
False. The only Laws regarding Players jerseys is that they must have sleeves and any showing undergarment must be of the same colour. GK麓s must wear a jersey that distinguishes them from the other players.
True
False.
The answer is false, there is no truth in it. I am a football Association referee and I have this years copy of the Laws of Association Football in front of me. Law 4 (The players equipment) states that ';goalkeepers must each wear colours which distinguish him from the other players, the referee and the assistant referees';. It also states that ';If the jerseys of the two goalkeepers are the same colour and neither has another jersey to change into, the referee shall allow play to begin.'; and ';Goalkeepers may wear track suit bottoms as part of their basic equipment';. There is no mention of whether the sleeves must be rolled down. I suspect the commentators were referring to some Law (not rule) which has probably been amended some time ago. There are several goalkeepers playing throughout the world, who choose to wear short sleeved shirts. Dunno how that helps their elbows on a hard pitch, but they always reckoned Goalkeepers were daft.
I believe that if they have a short sleeved top on then they must be wearing gloves as well. Wearing gloves makes it easier for the referee to spot a handball in the box.
That's absolutely true. I forget why, though, and it is only during the game. It can be done before it starts. It think it has to do with the possibility they might have something hidden that they could be getting at.
false (what do u think )
I agree with everything Ranger_2 say's. As far as I see I can say Goalkeepers wear Short Sleeved Shirt's yes, so this must mean it is false.

Also take into the matter, Sunday Gaolies/Weekend Players wear normal Football shirt's often so it must be I would say.
sure the keeper may wear short sleeves or roll up his sleeves. As long as he has a jersey on the which distinguishes him from all other players and the Referee he is fine

but i wouldn't recommend it as when diving to save a ball the rolled up shirt may hurt or break the skin, i always wore mine as a long sleeve shirt defentley protects against getting cut and grazed from the ground
