This means the activation energy has been lowered and both the forward AND reverse rate constants are increased. It is imporant that the reaction rate (k) and the equilibrium constant (K) are not confused because an enzyme does not modify the equilibrium constant.True or false? The activation energy requirement of the reaction is much lower in the presence of an enzyme. The enzyme enables the reaction to take place much more rapidly without the need for extreme conditions that would harm cells.
